What is photography on a computer other then millions of pixels placed together
this is a selection of photographs that I took when my D70s digital camera Even though it is a 6.2 Million Pixel camera i chose to select 16 pixels from each photograph. it is no more then a simple crop. still photography the purpose of this series is not the visual aspect of the image but the idea of challenging what is considered a photograph Is a photograph an image that is taken when a camera? where is the line drawn? |

One might say this is digital art, but isn't that what photography has become? Even if you use film it will likely be photoshoped.
If I had to draw the line between photography and digital art, I would say photography is when the image still represents a piece of reality without noticeable digital change....
Now, what that is exactly is hard to pin point, but not necesary.
Where do you draw the line?

would you not agree that by taking a picture, with any medium, that it is the photographers interpertation of the reality surounding?
then in that case, it is the photographer that is interpertering reality by choosing the framing. basicly... what does the photographer find of intrest?
only 15 percent of reality is captured with a 50mm lends. photography in itself is all interpertation, thus it cannot be described as reality.
This project could have been done equely as well in the darkroom, if i had assembled small (say 1inch square) crops of different film prints and put them together it would prove the same point.
