if we dont get what the artist is expressing then it is our own fault and its not bad art.
art and photography is meant for a lot of things, there are things that ask us to think and some are just there to be pleasant to look at.
in other words art is mostly there to be enjoyed not over anylysed bit through bit though every flaw.
ok not everyone can be annie lebovitz but seriously maybe those people who are on deviant art who are popular because they just enjoy photography as a hobby and like creating pretty pictures and shit.
keep in mind that some people on deviant art need time to develop their skills, they can't have it all at the age of 12 you know....?

hey I know you're not one to really care what people think, but I just wanted to say thanks.. I read through the famed thread, and just reading your comments really changed my perspective on photography and what constitutes "good" art and such. so thank you, I guess? haha.
just wanted to let my appreciation be known, hah.

not to be a creeper, but if you wouldn't mind telling, what school are/did you attend? cooper union? i'm in need of help developing concepts. i overthink shit. (my gallery has none of my fine art at the moment) i'm applying to cooper in hopes of learning concept more, but was looking for some advice.
